Description:Pictured just south of Colwich brickyard are Derby-built English Electric diesel 'twins' 10001 and 10000 on the 'up' London express. 10000 was built in 1947 and was delivered just in time to have LMS markings. 10001 was built in 1948 and is in the same colour scheme but without branding. 10001 is the leading loco, so the photo was taken in 1948 at the earliest. They operated as a multiple in June 1949 for two months before they began operating singly.
