Date:August 1964

Description:The stockyard and storage sheds at Wheatly's Springfield tileries. The names "Romulus" and Seville" over the shed are different types of roofing tiles. In the background are two downdraught beehive ovens with their chimneys. A 1893 "Contractors Compendium and Complete Catalogue" has four pages of bricks tiles produced by Wheatly's: these included floor, ridge, wall, floor and gable tiles and finials. The company also produced Staffordshire Blue bricks.

Springfield tileries had their own clay pits, just to the north of the works. The works and pits, demolished in the early 1980s, are now the site of a retail park.
