Description:The Hall and estate stands on Basford Green within the old Manor of Cheddleton. It came into the possession of the Sneyd family in about 1815. Revd. John Sneyd commissioned the building of 'The Bathhouse' in the grounds, when he owned the house. Designed in the style of a castle it originally contained a swimming pool, waterwheel, underground passages, a living room and kitchen. The Hall was let out to tenants for some of the last century, and was being used as a school for some time around 1948. Today the house is once more in the possession of a descendant of one of the Sneyd family.
