Description:A view looking north from the Essex Bridge. On the left can be seen the weir which maintains the level of the ornamental stretch of water at Shugborough which was the original course of the River Sow. In the centre of the image is the current course of the River Sow, created around 1800. Just of the picture to the right is the River Trent.
