Description:Brindley Village was the mining village of West Cannock No. 5 Colliery and the miners and their families lived in the converted Hospital Wards and outbuildings that was once Rugeley (Brindley) Military Hospital. In the centre of this postcard view can be seen a group of children huddled among the heather.
There was actually no spire on the church which was originally the Chapel to the Hospital but the postcard producer has added one to make it distinct. There were over fifty bungalows created out of the converted hospital buildings. There was also had a small shop, school, social and youth club facilities. It is a fascinating story to hear of the life of the village's comings and goings as children were born and raised there in what the descendants say was a wonderful place to live and bring up a family.
