Description:The Wards, like the huts, were lined with a type of asbestos as a form of insulation. You can still find the brick bases where the stoves for heating would have stood. There were apparently three stoves for each fifty man Ward.
Here you can see patients that were well enough having a snow-ball fight with the Nurses. Detailed plans of the Hospital show verandas attached to the Wards and a greenhouse which were no doubt to aid recuperation of the soldiers. Different therapies involved tasks that would relax the mind of the shell-shocked veterans. Contemprary reports state that they were very successful in helping the wounded to a form of recovery in the specialties they dealt with, including gas victims.
