Description:The origin of this song is unknown but was written for the men who travelled on the 'Tackeroo' to work at Rugeley Camp. The origin of the name comes from a district of Hednesford where the railway line originally joined the main line, on that side of the Chase it tended to be called that. On the other side of the Chase it was more commonly known as the Military Railway.

Keith Bradbury composed a tune to this lyric in the 1980s after consulting Jake Whitehouse. It was then used for almost a decade as the signature tune for the local folk band Tackeroo Junction of which Keith was a member. The band disbanded in the early 1990s.
