Description:Postcard view of the waterfall on the diverted Rising Brook at Dutton's Pool, Slitting Mill, previously known as Slitting Mill Pool. James Dutton, a carpenter, resided at the adjacent property known as the Horns in the mid 18th century and later became an innkeeper. The pool is now more commonly known as Horns Pool.
The waterfall is an outlet weir from the pool which is thought to have powered (via a water wheel) a steel rod slitting mill located below. The pool is thought to be late 18th century in origin.
