Description:This image was almost certainly taken from the north elevation of 15 Ashleigh Rd Pear Tree Estate. When the Photograph was taken, it would have been fields and farmland. The White gates on the extreme left was a level crossing which gave access to Sandy Lane. As with the canal network which preceded the railways, a tunnel under or a bridge over would have been constructed to allow the landlord access to his land which would have been inaccessible otherwise. The Tunnel in the centre of the image is probably an access tunnel for farm machinery and livestock.
