Description:This colour-tinted postcard is titled 'The German cemetery', although it actually shows the Commonwealth War Cemetery at Broadhurst Green on Cannock Chase. It was known locally as the 'German cemetery' until the creation of the larger German Military Cemetery in 1967 due to the number of German burials there. This cemetery contains the graves of 24 British and 73 New Zealand dead from World War I and 3 British dead of World War II, together with 257 German dead from World War I and 27 from World War II.

Nearby, on a separate site is the Cannock Chase German Military Cemetery. The German Military Cemetery contains a total of 4,941 war dead, 2,143 died during World War I and 2,798 during World War II.

Both of these cemeteries are cared for by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
