Description:Grade II listed Hatherton Hall was built in 1817 and was the seat of the Walhouse family. It was rebuilt by Moreton Walhouse, possibly in an emotional reaction to being passed over in his uncle, Sir Edward Littleton's will, when his son, Edward John Walhouse inherited Teddesley Hall in his place. Edward John took the name Littleton as part of the settlement. Edward John Littleton, later Lord Hatherton, strongly disapproved of the rebuilding of Hatherton. Even 50 years later he found it difficult to come to terms with his father's actions. He wrote in his journal:

“I never enter that house without regretting it was built. The venerable and most curious old structure it replaced would have been far more valuable. He spent £14,000 then and left a useless and very bad residence – to say nothing of a heavily encumbered estate, encumbered to the extent of its value, probably £70,000”.
