Description:Behind the original old farmhouse centre left of the photograph are the Officers' Huts of "F" Battalion Lines. In front of the original track is the newly constructed military road (now called Chase Road) and as the road bends to the left W.H. Smiths, the banks and shop come into view which must have had a roaring trade with so many troops on the Camp.

Most of the area in this photo disappeared when an aggregate quarry extracted sand and gravel and it is now a conservation area. Snow is on the ground; you can see why so many troops wrote home of how bleak and cold their accommodation was during the winter months.
