Description:A closer view of the worked out sand and gravel pit that at the top of Chase Road, now a conservation area for wildlife. A sign of the times, when aggregates were extracted and the site left to nature. Modern day extraction requires the sides of the pit to be sloped which is far better for recovery and safety. The area is now a quiet area for the local Deer population and covered in self-setting trees. Two of the twenty Battalion Lines that covered this part of the Chase were consumed after the War and the huts removed and sold to the local communities for housing and storage.
