Description:This is a view of the former sand and gravel pit at the top of Chase Road as you come out of Brocton. It was probably taken from what is now Chase Vista car park. Before the extraction of the aggregates there would have been evidence of the remains of Battalion Lines "F" and "G" but this area is now a conservation areas for wildlife. Part of "E" Lines can be found to the left of the gravel pit and on the ridge above is the track that the prisoners would have walked up from Milford & Brocton railway station when they arrived at the PoW Camp. The valley beyond this pathway has the military railway track bed winding its way up the opposite side of Hollywood Slade. A total of five Battalion Lines were converted to house the prisoners, one of which was a dedicated hospital of 1000 beds.
