Description:The Pagoda Fountain was originally envisaged as a six storey structure with gas-lit Chinese lamps hanging from the various layers of roof. The final construction, a design of Robert Abraham modelled on the To-ho pagoda in Canton and made by the Coalbrookdale Iron Company did not match this grand ideal. Standing at only three storeys high and without the decorative lamps, the Pagoda Fountain is 44 feet high and undeniably an impressive structure. It took some years to build and was eventually finished in the 1830s, after being started in 1826.
