Description:A group of convalescing military personnel photographed with nurses and civilians during World War I against the south-facing window of Ravenhill House adjacent to the garden. The house was used as a convalescent hospital for military personnel. It was financially supported and staffed by local people. The Commandant was Miss Lambert and the Matron was Mrs Hatton, the wife of a local dentist. Note the dog in the centre of the front row.

Seated is Mrs Montcrieff, the vicar's wife. Standing behind Matron are Dr. Paton and Col. Weatherall.

Funds for the support of the hospital were largely raised locally via Balls, Draws and other charitable events and donations. Patients had outings to the theatre at Christmas and a visit to Ingestre was arranged. Football matches, concerts and sports events were also arranged throughout the year to entertain both patients and staff.
