Description:Looking from the Lower Bedford Street bridge along the Trent & Mersey canal towards Etruscan Bone & Flint Mill. The canal bends left, to the right is a small canal basin for the mill. The mill was built in 1857 by Jesse Shirley to grind bone and flint for the pottery industry local farms. Ground bone was added to china clay to make bone china. Farmers used bone meal as a fertiliser. The mill is close to the junction of the Caldon and Trent & Mersey Canals. The mill is a grade II* listed building.
