The Rostance family business began as a builders in Stone Cross, Penkridge in the mid 19th century. In the early 20th century Frederick John Rostance developed the undertaking and coffin making business. The family business continued after his death in 1949 under the management of his son Alan John Rostance. The company name continued into the 21st century as F.J. Rostance & Son Ltd. Co-op Funeral Care.
