Description:The town planning scheme allocated areas or zones for different types of development such as residential, industry and public open space (the colour codes can be seen on the index map). Development had to comply with the Town Scheme and also shows principal road proposals and building areas.

This map shows a high level of development in the Silverdale, Knutton and Black Bank areas showing areas for housing (yellow and orange), public open spaces (striped green) industry (purple). At the bottom smaller areas are given to cemeteries with plans to extend (yellow and green), public buildings (blue and white), allotments (brown and blue) and on the right side a large area is taken by a sewage farm.

Digitisation funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.
