Description:Thought to be James 'Jim' Henry Toy, born in 1905, when aged about 2 years. He was the son of Austin Toy, a butcher of Upper Brook Street, Rugeley, and his wife Annie (nee Lyons). This portrait photograph was taken when James was still wearing a dress and before he was 'breeched', i.e. put into breeches or trousers. At this period this would generally have taken place at the age of two or three.

James later assisted his father in the family butcher's shop. In later life, he and his wife Margaret (nee Sear) lived at Stockwell Heath near Colton.
