Description:A view taken from Hanley Cemetery looking over the Trent and Mersey Canal, towards the Twyford's factory and bottle kilns.

Thomas Twyford built the works in Cliff Vale for the production of sanitary ware. The factory was ideally situated, with the Trent and Mersey Canal along its northern side, railway sidings constructed on the other and the main road to the front.

There is a Anglo Welsh narrowboat passing by in the foreground. The Twyford's factory site has been redeveloped and is now flats and housing. The two bottle kilns still remain as a reminder of the sites industrial past. The large gasometer in the background has been demolished.
