Description:Contestants in a walking race in Church Street, Audley. In the background can be seen Audley Church of England School, later to become Audley Council School, and later still Audley Infants School. It closed in 1984 and children were transferred to Ravensmead Primary School in Bignall End.

Walking matches were very popular at the turn of the 20th century.
