Description:The materials yard at Harrison & Son's Victoria Mill in Stanley. The mill ground glazes and colour for the ceramics industry. Although it took "fritt" from the company's Phoenix Works in Hanley, it also ground raw materials. In then yard are piles of feldspar, china stone ( china clay) and flint. Behind are the grinding mills and mill chimney.

Originally the grinding pans were driven by two steam engines, grinding flint or chert with water into a cream-like consistency. Later electricity replaced steam. The mill ran 24 hours a day, shutting only on August Bank Holiday.
The chimney was demolished in the 1980s and the site cleared for housing.
