Description:Centenary celebrations for J & G Meakin, Pottery Manufacturers inside a marquee, possibly in the grounds of Darlaston Hall, near Stone. The Meakin family lived here until 1951. Constance Meakin is standing far right.

Brothers James and George Meakin founded their pottery manufacturing company in 1851 and moved to works on Market Street, Hanley. In 1859 the Eagle Pottery Works was built, which was very advanced for its time. The company became best known for their white granite dinner and tea ware. In 1968 J & G Meakin joined with Midwinters. In 1970 the company was taken over by Wedgwood.
