Description:A view south along the Trent & Mersey Canal in the Sideway area of Stoke, with, in the distance, the A frame and head gear of Hem Heath Colliery. Alongside the canal are sidings belonging to the colliery. The white cross on some of the coal wagons shows they are for use within the colliery only and banned from the main line.
