Description:A view west along Copeland Street from near Glebe Street. On the right are houses numbered 3 to 7. Number 5 was Copeland House. Copeland House was built by the Copeland pottery firm as a residence for their factory manager. Copeland Wharf with its warehouse was immediately behind at the junction of the Newcastle branch canal and Trent and Mersey Canal. The adjoining houses were used to house senior staff, clerks and foremen. The properties were demolished with the construction of the A500 (Queensway). In the far distance are the Etruria gas holders on Etruscan Street. The tall building on the right side of Copeland Street was Showell's Brewery
