Description:Founded in 1785 by the Parker brothers, Apedale ironworks stood close to the site of Apedale Heritage Centre. At the time of this photograph the ironworks was at its most productive and was managed by the Midland Coal. Coke and Iron Company was formed. The company ran Apedale until the economic slump of the 1920s and 1930s, when it closed and was demolished.
