Description:Pictured is a typical diesel-electric locomotive of a type that the London Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) ordered from the English Electric Company on 25 June 1941. The order was for one hundred and twenty 350 B.H.P. “6K” Diesel-Electric locomotive equipment’s, each comprising the engine and generator, motors, control gear and auxiliaries. Owing to the demand for the locomotives for general war purposes, delivery in some cases was made to the instructions of the Ministry of Supply through the railway company.

This image has been taken from an original glass negative which has been donated to the Staffordshire County Museum by Alstom Power in Stafford.
