Description:The building to the right of the image is the Staffordshire Potteries Water Works Company's Wall Grange Pumping Station, built in 1849 was the first one locally to have provided water to Stoke on Trent. In the foreground is the North Staffordshire railway line. The Leek branch of the Caldon Canal is center, running left to right.
The two engine houses and steam pumps were called Stafford and Davenport. Davenport being converted to electric pumps in 1930s, and a new diesel back-up building constructed on the foundations of the Stafford pump house that was demolished completely. The remaining Davenport pump house in 2017 has been converted into a private residence.
