Description:At the end of the First World War, when the New Zealand Rifle Brigade left the military camps on Cannock Chase, they held a farewell parade through the streets of Stafford.
The mayor, Joseph Rushton, presented the troops with a Union Jack and the New Zealand Ensign on Market Square. The parade then marched to Seimens' sports field where the soldiers took part in sports events, watched by members of the public.
Note the banner on the Shire Hall: the ANZACs were nicknamed 'The Dinks' on the camp as they were considered to be good, honest (dinkum) soldiers.
