Opening of the Bass Brewery Distribution Depot, Stone

Date:11th of October 1974

Description:Following the closure of Joule's Brewery by Bass, the retail distribution operation was transferred to a purpose built development on Stafford Road, next to Brooms Hotel (now the Stonehouse).

The photograph was taken in the bottled beer warehouse and shows from left to right: draymen Frank Wood and Keith Smith; warehouse foreman John Horne; warehouse operatives David Plant, Alan (Reg) Stubbs, Stan Hurst and Cyril Tompkinson; distribution director Eric Watts; the Mayor of Stafford Borough Cllr. Ruth Dickson; warehouse foreman Bernard Whittle; depot manager Ken Austin and the Town Mayor of Stone Cllr. Margaret Kennedy; draymen Christopher Lockley, John Evans, Derek Hall and warehouse operative Keith Corbett.

The depot closed in August 1995.
