This is the only known image of the first Wesleyan Chapel at Hilderstone, built in 1822.

The date stone, seen on the gable end, was incorporated into the wall of the present chapel, built in 1894 on the same site.

The artist, A. Winfield, was an agricultural labourer at Trentham. He was born in Fradswell in the 1850s.
