Description:Blacksmiths outside the Red Cross Smithy at Knypersley, near Biddulph, Staffordshire. Various items are in the background: rakes, forks, scythe blades and mower blades, with a plough. On the left is the blacksmith, Herbert Taylor. The other man is probably one of his twin sons, John Herbert ('Herb') or William, both of whom worked at the smithy. Herb joined the Army in 1916 as a shoeing smith with the 277th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. He died of his wounds on 30 November 1917, aged 23, and is buried at Manancourt Cemetery, near Peronne, northern France.
