Description:The English Electric Co. had many large manufacturing sites around the United Kingdom, each with their own Fire Brigades. Over the years annual inter-works competitions were held for the Fire Crews. One of the teams is pictured connecting hoses to a Rugby Works Fire Brigade pump. During the day the Stafford Works Fire Brigade competed against teams from Chelmsford, Luton and Rugby. The day’s events took place at Stychfields sports field, adjacent to the Stafford Works. In the background the building on the right is the English Electric Transformer factory and the houses behind the pump are next to Sabine Street and Stychfields. They form part of a housing estate built for employees of the company and for many years locally known as Siemens Colony.
The timeline shows resources around this location over a number of years.
