Description:The Girls Guides started as a side organisation from the Boy Scouts. Lord Robert Baden-Powell set up a camp for boys in 1907 at Brownsea Island in Dorset to test his scouting ideas.
By 1908 girls started to do scout activities as well, until 1909 when a group of girls gate-crashed the first Boy Scout Rally at Crystal Palace to ask Baden-Powell to do something for girls.
Baden Powell’s sister Agnes set up the Girl Guides Association in 1910 and it is still going strong today.
