Description:The building on the left is the Union Flour Mill. Situated on the Birmingham Canal Navigations Mainline, the steam-powered mill commenced production in 1813. It was owned by the Wolverhampton Flour and Bread Co. which had been specially founded to provide cheap bread to the public. The bread could be sold at two pence per loaf cheaper than local bakers who took the committee to court for 'illegal combination' at Stafford Assizes, but they were found to be 'not guilty'. The mill had five pairs of stones and eight ovens.

The bridges on the right spanned two canal basins.
