Description:Probably taken towards the end of the second Infants' year, most children being at or near age 7. They would have started in the school term after their 5th birthday and usually would not have received any pre or play school activities. They moved up to the Junior section in the same building the following September. Note the boys' universal short trousers!

Hazel Slade School was built in 1884 chiefly for use as a church but also as a day school. By 1892 it was an Infants' school but by 1912 was Mixed and Infants'. A new school was built on a new site nearby at Hazel Slade on the junction of the Rugeley and Cannock Wood Roads in 1936 and enlarged in 1948.
