Description:William Richards was a keen archaeologist and a local collector of archaeology and objects from different countries. The weird and wonderful objects in this collection have come from all over the world. They were left to the museum after his death in 1986. Museums don’t encourage archaeology as a hobby today because it can be difficult to tell if objects have been stolen from archaeological sites meaning important research can be lost. However this collection does provide us with a fascinating glimpse of the history and culture of people from Britain and other countries.
