Description:Portrait of Charles Downes (1755-1839). Oil on canvas, gilt wood frame. Middle aged man sitting side on with grey hair wearing black. Charles Downes (1755-1839) was Master of various subsidiary schools of King Edward's, Birmingham. Painted by his son, Rev. James Downes (1803-1893), Vicar of Stonnall, Staffordshire.
