Description:Wooden figures in the style of Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, three dwarves on one control so that they walk in unison. Made by D'Albert.

Ernest Mortimer (1896-1966) was a ventriloquist, conjuror and puppetteer who adopted the stage name 'D'Albert the Royal Entertainer' after World War 1. His Punch and Judy booth became a fixture at Morecambe, Lancashire from 1923 to 1941.

He was heavily influenced by early Walt Disney animations in the 1930s - these marionettes were made for his version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

D'Albert finally retired from performing in 1958. Many of the D'Albert Marionettes now form part of the Hayward Puppet Collection, now part of the Staffordshire County Museum collection.
