Description:This display in Princess Street Precinct is decorated for Christmas shopping during December.

In one section of the window the mannequins are dressed in gold and silver evening dresses and in the other they are wearing ‘fake fur’ winter coats with various accessories.

The mannequins were made by Adele Rootstein, London, a leading manufacturer of the day. Many were modelled from famous people.

The Co-op’s windows were often photographed at night for the most dramatic effect, however, it is also possible to see reflected on the glass the signs and lights of those shops directly opposite in the Precinct, in this case there is a sign (read backwards in the glass) for Booklands the Book Shop that traded there for many years.

The Display Manager was Mr Ray Fowler.
