Description:Baby ‘John’ was an evacuee’s doll belonging to a little girl named Sheila.
She was evacuated to the area to escape the bombs at Tilbury Docks. She lived with a family in Blythe Bridge and went to a local school.

The donor of Baby ‘John’ remembers she was on her way to celebrate Sheila’s birthday when someone told her Sheila had died in a road accident. The whole school went to her funeral and ‘John’ was given to the donor by the family who were looking after Sheila.
