Date:June 1944

Description:This flag is from one of the landing crafts used in the D-Day Landings on Tuesday 6th June 1944.

It was given to the youngest member of the crew Eric Heath from Sandyford.
The flag was blackened by the smoke from the guns in the area and frayed by the rough weather.

The only comment made by able-seaman Heath about his part in his trip to Normandy was, “It was rough. They were being sea-sick before they went over.”
