Description:With the white beard is blacksmith Thomas Fletcher outside his smithy in the early 1900s. For over 60 years he was been a regular bellringer at Baswich Church. He had a pony and trap in which he would carry people to Stafford. He retired around 1914. Thomas was born in 1843 and died in 1939 aged 96. Ted Giles then became the village blacksmith. The cottage beyond the smithy was later the Post Office.
