Description:To the left of a laundry copper is a built-in bakestone (or 'backstone') in the kitchen at Over Boothlow Farm, Longnor. It is made of brick with a circular iron plate on top, and was used to make Staffordshire oatcakes. Bakestones such as these used to be common in cottages in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
