Description:'Telephone Belles' was the first float entered by the then G.P.O. in Stafford Pageant. It is seen here outside the Castlegate Telephone Exchange on Eastgate Street. The float was designed by Ian Tavernor. The annual procession through Stafford ended with a fair on the town common. A prize was awarded to the best decorated entries and along the route collections were made for Stafford General Infirmary.
