Description:Miss Florence Thorneycroft (died 1944) was a Staffordshire County Councillor from March 1919 to May 1936 and a County Alderman between May 1936 and February 1944. She lived at Tettenhall Towers, Wolverhampton until 1943 when she sold the house and grounds to Tettenhall College. She was Commandant Voluntary Aid Detachment Staffordshire during World War I, when this portrait of her wearing a Red Cross nurse's uniform was painted.

Miniature on ivory by Janis Margaret Edwards, exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1917.
