Description:In 1758, Arthur Chichester, Marquess of Donegal, purchased Fisherwick Hall, an Elizabethan building which had been the home of the Skeffington family. He had the old hall demolished in 1766 and a new house was completed by 1774, surrounded by a Lancelot 'Capability' Brown landscape. The estate was sold in 1808 to R.B. Howard of Ashstead Park, Surrey, who demolished the Hall in 1818.

This watercolour view shows a distant view of the 1774 hall, with the Orangery. Painted by John Spyers.
