Description:In 1758, Arthur Chichester, Marquess of Donegal, purchased Fisherwick Hall, an Elizabethan building which had been the home of the Skeffington family. He had the old hall demolished in 1766 and a new house was completed by 1774, surrounded by a Lancelot 'Capability' Brown landscape. The estate was sold in 1808 to R.B. Howard of Ashstead Park, Surrey, who demolished the Hall in 1818.

This watercolour view shows the north and east fronts of the 1774 hall, with the stable block to the right. Painted by John Spyers.
