Description:Walter Chetwynd (1633-1691) of Ingestre Hall, was an antiquary and politician. he was Member of Parliament for Stafford 1674-1679 and 1685-1689, and M.P. for Staffordshire 1690-1691. His work as a historian for Staffordshire was very important. He collecting in the 1660s and began writing 'A Short Account of Staffordshire' in 1679, which remained unfinished by the time of his death. Dr. Robert Plot stayed with him and used his collections when compiling his own 'Natural History of Staffordshire'. Chetwynd was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1678.
